No bank or lender offers their REO properties directly to the public. They hire a Realtor/agent who market and sells these bank owned properties.
Banks do not want to deal directly with an ignorant buyer.
Banks have a department called something like Special assets, etc. The foreclosed property is in the hands of this department.
Glenn is right. Banks are not in the business of marketing houses to the public, and almost all of them will place their homes with a real estate agency. If they have foreclosed and have not put the house on the market, it is because they are waiting for clear title or they are having a trash-out done.
Why would it be important to you to try and deal directly with a bank? They certainly don’t want to deal directly with you!
